Our Biggest Film Intensive Yet!!

The Lighting Intensive that Became a Short Film

For our latest intensive we really wanted an awesome location that showcased real problems with 2 major lighting setups. After a few phone calls we had a crew of people ready to give it their all and make this the biggest teaching experience we've done to date.

Synopsis

An anxious elderly man boards a 1960s DC-3, haunted by more than just a fear of flying. When a dropped medal sparks a flashback to his time as a WWII pilot — the sole survivor of a doomed mission — buried memories resurface. But a simple gesture from a stranger reminds him that even heroes don’t have to fly alone.

First Flight is a heartfelt short film exploring memory, legacy, and connection.

our story

Crew School

Hands-on training program designed to fast-track aspiring filmmakers into entry-level crew roles on real film sets.

Our focus is on below-the-line crew — the camera assistants, lighting techs, sound recordists, and grips who bring stories to life. Through structured weekly training and real production experience, students learn the core skills, set etiquette, and on-the-job confidence needed to step straight into the industry.

Each term, students collaborate on professional commercial shoots and short films like First Flight, working alongside industry mentors to gain experience that goes beyond the classroom.

Whether you're looking to launch a career in film or sharpen your set skills, Crew School is where it begins.

Training First

We're going to be giving an in-depth breakdown of what's happening and trainers to assist in crew positions for practical hands on learning.

We'll also have a full video village setup to watch every step of the journey.

The whole short film will be shot in one evening and students be able to join in with a professional film shoot.

Behind the Scenes

Makeup Test

Trent from The Art of Makeup Society came in to do a test run of the makeup for our lead actor Leigh Parker. Check it out here.

Here are some common questions

Is there any cost?

This intensive will be FREE. It's main purpose is to continue the develop of current & past students and to see young filmmakers progress on their journey.

If it's free what's the point?

We really want to see our students on set... and it just makes sense to make this one not about the money. The training is still there, so any new student can get a taste for Crew School.

Do I need any lead up training?

We highly recommend Crew School. Honestly it's specifically design for students to get started in the industry and ready for projects like this. Don't just take our word for it, ask our past students.

Will there be actors?

Leigh Parker will be our lead actor and a range of selected advanced students from his acting school will be utilised as extras and various other roles.  If you're one of these actors from Leigh's class reach out to him directly pls.

Can I come and just watch?

Let us know if you would just like to be an observer in your Expression of Interest and we'll let you know if it's possible.

I can't make it, will there be more?

This is our first Mega Intensive, but we have more opportunities planned for 2025 and even bigger for 2026. Just fill out the Expression of Interest and asked to be put on the mailing list, we'll sort it out from there.
